PROMETHEUS - LANDSCAPE II

Jan Fabre

le 13.05.2011

Jan Fabre presents a work inspired by the trials and tribulations of the vain Prometheus.  Because he stole fire from Mount Olympus, Prometheus was chained to a rock in the Caucasus Mountains where a bird of prey ate a piece of his liver every day.  Intrigued by this pitiless punishment, Jan Fabre revisits the myth, drawing a parallel between it and Stanley Kubrick's "Full Metal Jacket".  This powerful show elicits compassion and fear.

Fin

D’après Bernard-Marie Koltès, Franz Kafka,John Maxwell Coetzee. /// Krzysztof Warlikowski

du 10.05.2011 au 11.05.2011

After the unforgettable "(A)pollonia", the Polish director continues his reflection on the human condition.  A talented gold and silversmith, he interlaces various works with universal themes: "The Trial" by Franz Kafka; extracts from J.M. Coetzee's novel "Elizabeth Costello"; and Bernard-Marie Koltès' screenplay project "Nickel Stuff".  Through this literary marriage, he addresses a question which has haunted mankind since the dawn of time: the mystery of the journey from life to death.  When man reaches his limits, can theatre be his salvation?

Noli me tangere

Jean-François Sivadier

du 24.03.2011 au 26.03.2011

"Don't Touch Me" is what Jesus is supposed to have said in the Book of Saint John.  The comical plot of the play depicts a dual between the totalitarianism of the empire of Judea and the word of the prophet John the Baptist, in the year 27.  Jean-François Sivadier, who had audiences in Liege exploding with laughter last year with his show "La dame de chez Maxim" ("The Lady from Maxim's") is back on the boards with his fabulous actors in a comedy which reinvents the "greatest story ever told".

1984

d’après George Orwell /// Mathias Simons

du 10.01.2011 au 14.01.2011

Freely adapted for the stage two years ago by Mathias Simons, this play still promises plenty of shivers.  "1984" proves that alas, "reality is stranger than fiction".  Who would have thought that the year 2000 would see the start of the era of technological superiority and social control imagined by George Orwell at the end of the 40s in his famous novel "1984"?  Watch out, Big Brother is watching!

du 08.10.2010 au 16.10.2010

Just after he is found guilty, in a long letter to his judge, Charles Alavoine retraces the steps of the path which led him to murder Martine.  She was a huge breath of freedom and passion, but the leap towards a different kind of destiny can be as vital as it is destructive.  Georges Simenon wrote this tale of black demonic existentialism in which two lost souls, conscious of their descent into Hell, celebrate passion.  Franck Focketyn gives a breathtakingly honest performance.
